Report: Global smartphone market fell 9% year-on-year in the third quarter, Samsung leads the market
On October 19, Canalys released a report saying that in the third quarter of 2022, the global smartphone market suffered a three-quarter decline in a row, down 9% year-on-year. Samsung is leading the market with a market share of 22% through aggressive promotions to reduce channel inventory.
Apple was the only vendor in the top five to achieve positive year-over-year growth during the quarter, further improving its market position with an 18% share amid the market downturn due to relatively resilient demand for iPhones.
Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo continued to take a cautious approach to overseas expansion, with global market shares of 14%, 10% and 9%, respectively.
